Sure a good mainstream anime, or manga like One piece, Dragon ball series, MHA, and Naruto are all great anime’s to watch, and fun to read. But what about the oddball anime, or manga that you don’t really hear about? I am talking about the anime, and manga that you accidentally stumble upon while browsing the web … or may see in a suggestion list if you are lucky. Well fear not, for I am here to list out some of those oddball anime’s, or manga’s that you may, or may not find interesting.

Oddball Manga’s

Guai Qi Bi Ji

Summary: This is the concentration camp of strange imaginations, and also wonderful manhua stories! Until the last second, the ending is always beyond your imagination. (Source Mangakaka)

Guai Qi Bi Ji by Chuang Hua Wen Hua  currently only has 4 chapters on Mangakaka. This ongoing manhua definitely deserves more attention than what it is getting! However, be warned the stories in this manhua are a bit twisted, and on the dark side.

The Lost City

Summary:Decommissioned police officer Zhounan, is perplexed by a peculiar psychological experience. Upon contact with any object, he is able to perceive an individual’s thoughts and capabilities. Evidently he finds himself entangled within the city he is in – the numerous legends within the Lost City cities. And those seemingly absurd legends hide surprising secrets. A weird world slowly opens its doors to us…(Source Mangakaka)

The Lost City by Dong Man Tang is an ongoing webtoon with currently 18 chapters out on Mangakaka. I stumbled upon this bad boy when I was browsing through Mangakaka … The picture just happen to catch my eyes so I thought why not check it out. The story line so far is pretty fucking bad ass if you ask me. Right away to starts off with officer Zhounan beating up a bad guy  …. but he keeps having these weird visions which puts him in a not so awesome predicament.

Organ Divider

Summary: Where did she come from? Just who is she? The female hive Toda mowed down a swarm of powerful cyborgs. (Summary Mangakaka)

If you can’t tell already I tend to read darker style manga’s, manhua’s, and webtoons! Organ Divider by Sigama is currently an ongoing series with six chapters out.  An underground civilization known as the Highland revived a cybernetic technology that they discovered from the people who previously lived in the highlands before they did. This manga follows the story of a girl name Toda who has a cybernetic arm also known as Tessa Arm.

Oddball Anime

Parasyte -The Maxim-

Summary: Based on Iwaaki Hitoshi’s science-fiction horror manga by the same name. The 17-year-old Izumi Shinichi lives with his mother and father in a quiet neighborhood in Tokyo. One night, worm-like aliens called Parasytes invade Earth, taking over the brains of human hosts by entering through their ears or noses. One Parasyte attempts to crawl into Shinichi’s ear while he sleeps, but fails since he is wearing headphones, and enters his body by burrowing into his arm instead, taking over his right hand and is named Migi.Because Shinichi was able to prevent Migi from traveling further up into his brain, both beings retain their separate intellect and personality. As the duo encounter other Parasytes, they capitalize on their strange situation and gradually form a strong bond, working together to survive. This gives them an edge in battling other Parasytes, who frequently attack the pair upon realization that Shinichi’s human brain is still intact. Shinichi feels compelled to fight other Parasytes, who devour humans as food, while enlisting Migi’s help. (Source Master Anime)

Parasyte -The Maxim- or Kiseijuu: Sei no Kakuritsu is a completed anime with 24 episodes each about 24 minutes long. I would love for this anime to have a second season. I actually just discovered this anime as I was browsing Hulu (go figures) … none the less it caught my eye. I binge watch the shit out of the anime. The story line follows Shinichi who isn’t exactly a parasyte or human. Honestly, this anime gave off a Tokyo Ghoul vibe.

Senki Zesshou Symphogear

Summary: Two years ago, a pair of idols, Tsubasa Kazanari and Kanade Amou, collectively known as ZweiWing, fought against an alien race known as Noise using armor known as Symphogear. To protect a girl named Hibiki Tachibana, who got severely wounded by the Noise, Kanade sacrificed herself. Two years later, as Tsubasa has fought the Noise alone, Hibiki ends up gaining the same power as Kanade. (Source Master Anime)

Senki Zesshou Symphogear I believe has 4 seasons each with 13 episodes that are about 24 minutes long. This anime is so underrated, and I honestly don’t know why! It is so damn freaking awesome that I have watched this anime waaaaay to many times already haha. The story focuses mainly on Hibiki, and a few other girls who are known as Symphogear users, or bad ass mecha looking chicks who sing while they battle!

Toaru Kagaku No Railgun

Summary: Academy City is a highly developed place in terms of technology. It is said to be 20 to 30 years ahead of the rest of the world, and 80% of its 2.3 million residents are students. The focus of studies here is directed towards esper powers. Misaka Mikoto, one of the top level espers in town, shares a room with Kuroko Shirai, another high level esper who is a member of Judgement, a law enforcing agency composed of students. Both attend Tokiwadai, a private school reserved for the high-leveled and the rich. Kuroko’s partner at Judgement, Kazari Uiharu, is a low level esper who studies at Sakugawa middle school. Her best friend and classmate there is Ruiko Saten, a level zero, one who has no esper powers. Together, the four encounter several adventures in the exciting scientific town.

Toaru Kagaku no Railgun or A Certain Scientific Railgun currently has 2 seasons with 24 episodes each season with each episode is about 24 minutes long . I hate the index series, but I absolutely adore the spin off series Railgun. The story follows Misaka a level 5 esper, and her friends as they go on many adventures together … rather they be fun, or dangerous. I am still waiting for the day that they will make a season 3 for this series, because I personally thought it was that good. The characters are not hard to fall in love with, and the anime has an amazing story line! This is another anime that I have sit down, and watch waaay to many times, but you know what my friends … I have no regrets!
